My new job has been going really well so far. I'm in training with 19 other people all around my age, and they all seem like deece ppl. Training can be fun when you're hanging with good people. It's now become almost a daily habit for me and my friend to exchange drawings in class. I'm getting quite the collection haha, though some are disturbing n00dz.

I'm enjoying earning an alright amount of money, now just have to look for a place to rent. I've got my eye on one I really want! I'm gunna have to sort shit out quick smart, though I've never applied for a place before, so I hope that doesn't go against me.

Today after I finished a job interview (eughh), I decided to do a bit of op-shopping. I found this little beauty at an op-shop, or I should probably call it a boutique due to their inflamed prices, on Gurwood.
It is so gorgeous, you can't really see it in the photo but between the ornate parts in the frame is deep red velvet. It has made me decide to decorate my room old English/ Elizabethan/ Marie Antoinette etc style :)

My Family. I love them so much. I went on my Bebo page to laugh at old emo photos of myself, as you do ;) and I came across some old scans of family photos.

This is my Nan, Marie Eleanor Rose ♥
She was a nurse when she was younger. That's how she met Pop - looking after him in hospital. She looks so pretty in this photo.

She is the most giving and selfless person I know. I have never heard her mutter a single bad word against anyone, nor have I heard her complain about a single problem. She has respect for mankind, she doesn't judge or hate others unlike herself. Nan has a beautiful personality and always sees the funny side of things; she has an eternally positive outlook and always keeps faith. One thing I will regret, is that I will probably never knowing her fully. You should ask your Grandparents a new question about themselves every time you see them, and make each hug go for twice as long as usual. I wish I was half the person she is.

Nan and Pop's wedding day on the 31st of October. Many years later, I was born on that same day.

My Dad, Andrew. He is an amazing man. Here he is with one of the many Blue Heelers he has named Pugsly.

If you have ever read Roal Dahl's 'Danny Champion of the World', you will have an idea of who my Dad is. My Dad is exactly like the Father in that book. He has always made life fun for me, creating wild adventures from nothing, teaching me things about nature and animals, and he very enthusiastically encouraged my creative side as a child. I was never denied a thing. Dad has started me on so many projects; making rockets, swimming on the pontoon, tattooing, illustration, adding a motor to my bicycle, university etc.

Dad was so fun to be around, such a comedian, he'd make funny elaborate stories, do voice overs, pull dumb faces and just be silly in general. All my friends loved him growing up. I feel a very strong bond with my father and our land. He has given me a sense of pride, ownership and heritage of the property he and I have grown up on, that I too will own one day. I am also glad I also inherited a sense of humor from him.

Most importantly I'm glad he loves me and that he shows it. I have seen what other families can be like, and I'm glad my Dad always hugged me, that he was lenient and gave me a mile, that he is eccentric, that he told me he loved me and that I was able to talk to him about anything.

Kristian, my Brother :)
He is 10 years older than me, which kinda sucks. He left home when I was in early primary to join the RAAF. I didn't get to see him and bond with him as much as I would of liked growing up, I wish the age gap was smaller.

Kristian is pretty cool, I look up to him. I'm so thankful I had him as an older brother to steer me towards alternative music, sending me burnt copies of Katatonia, Deftones, Down, Karnivool etc when I was 15. He gave me my most favorited present I have ever received to this day. A Gameboy Colour and Pokemon Blue when I was 9. I spent at least a thousand hours on it, my favorite thing to play, thus I got all the generations of Pokemon games that followed.

Growing up we had baby nicknames. I called him Bruppy and I was called Meemoo. Apparently because when I was a toddler I would say that word for some reason.Kristian now lives up in Townsville where we were both born. I miss my Bruppy.

A few weeks ago, me and some of my friends were in Albury @ Groove Saint for the Violent Soho + Children Collide gig.

It was a rad gig. Violent Soho were okay live, I had only heard the one song of theirs that I have - My Generation, but I really got into their music after hearing the album played a few times. Muscle Junkie is a GREAT song. Children Collide were fabulous live. Gave me a greater appreciation for the band. John the lead singer of Children Collide is incredibly cute; I was glad to be front row right in front of him ;) Kayles and I were a bit ga-ga over him, and we got a pic with him.

It was quite refreshing to see that the bands did not fuck off away from the ordinary punters after the gig was done, but stayed and hung out at the club. John even approached our group quite a few times to talk to Sam haha. Afterwards, everyone -- and the bands, went to Karaoke at Paddy's till the wee hours.

Overall was a good night cept for the Nandos making me feel like vomiting through some of the night :S (Thanks for taking my Nandos virginity Jordyn lol).

These are to die for! It's my favourite fake meat, with those Sanitarium Not Burgers close behind.. I spent ages looking for these recently and could not find them. I thought they had gone out of production, but luckily I found them again in the asian section of a larger well stocked supermarket. I think it's the texture that makes them so good. They are the best marinated, fried up and chucked in any meal. With the ingredients being; gluten, soy bean, wheat, water, salt, sugar & soy bean oil, I wonder why they aren't labelled 'Vegan' ?

Last night was the event C Block was hosting for the year. They did a rave themed party. There were not as many people as there could have been, would of made the night better. The music was good though, I was happy to hear some Bloody Beetroots and Zuper Blahq, and the Red Frogs provided us with heaps of yummy iced donuts :)

My friend Mary started a local company called Burn The Circle Media, through which she now manages bands Nemesphyxia and Ashes To Fall. She has been working non stop and things have been going super well. My mate Byron and myself have now joined Burn The Circle Media. My main role is basically that of a graphic designer, and helping out in any other areas I can lend a hand to. I am pretty happy at the moment cos I get to do what I've always wanted, in a relevant field, and hang around with a bunch of people I love.

Last thing I did was travel with Mares to Ganmain for a photoshoot for Ashes To Fall and a portfolio shoot for the lovely Madeline and Jade. So now I am currently working on editing and touching up the photos from the shoots. The other BTC project I have on currently is making the T-shirt design for Ashes To Fall which I am super excited about because it is right up my alley !

Life is pretty good at the moment :)

Nemesphyxia played a gig on Friday with Five Star Prison Cell which I got a few crappy snaps of. It was new drummer Stephen Dogao's first gig with Nemnem AND it was the first time the guys played all their new stuff. They went off chops and I'm pretty sure everyone loved them. They have developed a heaps more progressive sound. I am so in love with a particular song of theirs I want it played at my funeral, dead set! As morbid as that is haha!

My friend wanted to see the clothes I had bought while shopping in Melbourne, so I thought I'd post them here rather than on FB.

Here are my RMK Lola's I got from Myers. I have been looking for high covered black wedge booties for ageees and not had any luck. Anyways I saw these and even though they are different from what I was looking for, I fell in love with them !

The strap is removeable. Gosh, they put so much height on me, it's really funny. Being the same height as everyone else is wierd ;) New fave shoes.

MELBOURNE

Sooo, trip to Melbourne.
Well the car ride up was heaps eventful/funny. Getting lost, unnecessary fruit detour, 'bimping' the BP guy then getting stuck trying to exit the car park w/ everyone watching, illegal u-turns, gay + lez radio, tram almost knocking off side mirror and other silliness.

This is where we stayed - Urban Central. Was pretty close to the Crown Casino. When we rocked up we got a $66 fine, we were only gone like 10 mins max :( Anyway we were there late as and the next door club Eve was pretty busy. There were some pretty skeezy guys around.

After we settled in, we took ages to get ready to go out, haha.

Melbourne weather was so freaking cold @ 2am, the girls had to change again :P

We spent a fair bit of time in and around the Crown Casino. We were there when the Logies were on, and the guests were going up the stairs with all the papparazzi. I didnt see anyone I knew. There was a shit load of 14 year old's dressed up in ball gown shit + makeup like they were actually attending the Logies, and not waiting for their fave actor from Home + Away to look at them.

We were in the city during the Melbourne Zombie Shuffle. Zombies everywhere. There seemed to be a strong surgical nurse/Dr theme going on. I took this photo of Kasey later that night, not realising there were creepy aftermath prints behind her till I got home and brightened the pic.

Our awesome *ahem* tour guide took us to the main streets in Melbourne that were good for clothes shopping and op-shopping. Brunswick, Chapel etc. Oh shiiiit I fell in love with a store called Shag. If I lived in Melbs I would shop there whenever I could. Definately check it out if you go to Melbs.

We had the most delicious chocolate fondue @ Max Brenner's.

Out and about. Melbourne is such a beautiful city. Art everywhere, they really want the place to look special. Ahh I loved the transport system there. $3.90 for all day pass trams/train/bus. Oh yeah I had my first tram ride - am I lame? So easy to get around, and when we decided to walk the distance instead, I didn't really mind cos there was always something interesting to look at.

I am in loooove with my new jacket ♥. Melbourne had some great shopping / bargains.

On the last day Jacqui and I visited the National Gallery of Victoria. They had a really beautiful stained glass roof. Checked out some art works, interesting installations and designer gowns.

Ahh Melbourne. I might move and live in you one day, but you'll have to take that up with Brisbane :) Another eventful trip home. Kazza the GPS taking us the wrong way, driving into a tram lane, getting stuck and screaming like we were going to die! A car almost side swiping us, Jacqui being ill :( some bitch with highbeam on us so i stuck my head out the window and stared her down hahaha, we then tailgated her and returned the favour ;) It was a tiring, but good experience. I look forward to the next time.

I have not blogged in ages. I have been so busy! I have a super fun weekend in store. Me and my girlies Steph, Jacqui, Kasey + Bec are going to Melbourne to party, explore , eat out, shop and op-shop.

The Logies are on this weekend so there is actually a good chance of a celeb sighting, and cos of that the girls want to visit the Crown Casino haha :P Another event that will be on is KATES PARTY MELBOURNE !! Even though Kate was originally a prank, people are still going ahead and organising Kate's Parties in all major cities. In Melbs it starts 6PM @ Federation Square.

Apparently we are going to be visiting Steph's grandma who lives down the road from Molly Meldrum, and are hitting the nightclubs with her cousins.

Should be a heaps decent weekend. Must post pics :)

So for one of my graphic design classes we had to create a magazine. We had to use the interview and 5 photos we took ages ago to make a spread, plus interview and photos from two other people. My interview with the band Spew Your Guts Up is in my previous blogs. It was soo good when I finally had it in my hands fresh from the printing shop. Here are the layouts I did. (low quality jpegs).

So, I watched the last of season 4 Skins the other day, and I'm sad to say goodbye to another generation of kids that I've grown to love. My favourites over the years have definitely been Cassie and Effy, but they are probably every one's, right? I just really hope that season 5 will be slightly less morbid, and that the writers cheer the fuck up. I think that in every episode of 4 there was probably something negative happening and don't get me started on how it ended :'(

I found the cutest app/download. Poladroid turns your regular snaps into little polaroids. Its kinda fun to use because the film 'develops' on your desktop, and you can make a nice wallpaper or collage with them :) Ive been collecting old pics off my computer and polaroid'n them.

For one of my uni classes we had to upload photos to a Flickr account. Not being a photographer, I don't have many photos that I've taken for arts sake rather than FB photos. However looking through all my image folders, I came across this image which is several years old. It is of my old schoolfriend Pete, back in Urana, the night after we were all partying down the Dippers. I adjusted the levels and colour saturation, and now I just think this is a really cool image, the more I look at it. Sleeping on benches and not giving a fuck, yep that's Pete.

No matter what new music and genres I get into, I always come back to Nirvana, good 90s artists, old underground grunge and riot grrrl bands. When I first got into music (besides the Top 40 bullshit that is thrown down our throats) I found grunge. There was something different about the music back then. So much rawer. Songs meant something to someone. I wish I had been a teenager in America, in the 90s. Now where are all the gorgeous boys with long hair?

My friend Sarah's brother's band Spew Your Guts Up came down to Wagga from New Castle to do the benefit gig Battle For The Breast. We hung out on the weekend and decided to interview the guys for a Uni assignment.

How long have you been performing together for and how did you meet?

Evan: We've been together as a band since late November of 2009. About 3 and a half months.

Hannah: Lisa and I had been jamming together for 1 month, we needed a drummer and found Evan through a mutual friend. We jammed every day for 8 days then played our first show.

What is it like to be a band based in Newcastle, is there a strong music scene?

Hannah: It's good, everyone helps each other out. Every one's been really cool and friendly, people have been really good to us.

Lisa: The scene is strong but not that huge

Evan: Lots of shows happening/music being made, new record shop VOX CYCLOPS opened late last year or something like that and those guys put on regular gigs of all different kinds of shit. It's a great space and those guys are fucken tops. Newcastle would be less good if vox didn't exist. I'm liking living in Newcastle more now than i have for a while.

'Spew Your Guts Up' is a very interesting name, is there a story behind it?

Hannah: Sarah, my sister and Lisa's housemate came up with the name

Lisa: About 6 months before we started the band

Hannah: Now she has recently made a rival band 'keep your lunch down'

You guys like to keep it very DIY, using cassette tapes to distribute your music, and you have chosen to have no web presence, why is this?

Hannah: We have Cd's as well as tapes for people who don't have a tape player.

Evan: I think cassette tapes are less disposable than Cd's

Lisa: People like the tapes.

Evan: We got those tapes off our mate Boyer. He has lots of blank tapes laying around. He used to run a tape label, Hey Neighbour!

Hannah: As for web presence it's a waste of time.

Evan: We've been functioning really well as a band without it. having a web presence just seems like something we don't need to do. none of us have Internet anyway. i think Internet is a great thing though.

Lisa: Internet is great for some things I guess, but our live performances are where it's at yo. And we'd rather be personal than caught in the web!

What themes do you present in your lyrics?

Hannah: Boredom/unemployment/everyday life experiences and emotions (its OK 2 cry!)

Why do you make music?

Hannah: Fun, boredom.

Lisa: It's a refuge.

Evan: Coz we love to .

Have there been any difficulties being a mostly female band, when most alternative bands out there are predominately male?

Hannah: The only negative experience was 'The Loft' not having us unless we played with other female bands on a 'girl band' bill.

Evan: But for the most part it hasn't been an issue. We've played with all different kinds of bands with a mix of female and male members and gender has never been an issue or come up at all. We're just treated as a band I think. So not really any difficulties.

What has been the highlight/s of the band's time together?

Hannah: The new experiences, playing with Nunchukka Superfly, playing at Vox on Australia Day then the Hamo.

Lisa: Seeing you guys on stage loving it coz it makes me just love it, and just laughing a lot I guess.
Evan: Playing with Hannah and Lisa with a lot of really great bands and awesome people, we've been very lucky with that. It's all been really good. The Vox show on Australia Day was one of the most fun, and the zine shop one with Alphabet Snakes was very fun too. And the last house show....

What is in the immediate future for Spew Your Guts Up?

Hannah: We're doing a 2 week tour in may with Tim Crossey and yes I'm leaving. We're playing in Newcastle/Sydney/Canberra, and if we can organise it, Wagga and Melbourne.

Lisa: And we're doing a record some time after that.

Any long term career goals for the band?
Evan: Were recording a song for a compilation CD that our friend Jase is putting out on the label he is starting.

Before they left, Evan got me to do him a super dodgy watermelon tat on the back of his arm. I can't wait till these guys come back to Wagga to do another gig.

My newest illustration. Online ages ago I found an old sepia picture of a severed head with the skull and brain exposed. I think it was from when people thought they could tell what was wrong with a criminal from looking at the bumps in the brain or something. It was pretty knarly. Anyways I used that, but did a new take on it, drawing a pretty girls face instead of said bearded crim.

Okay, so today I was kinda pissed off. I got on my PC and started messing around in Paint (what a way to vent - I know :P) and I came up with this chick. I'm super fucking pleased about how she turned out. After I drew and colored her in, I put her into another program to smooth & blend, get rid of that pixelated Paint look. I was mucking around with the hue and made her green and thought, yeah! I'll make her undead/frankenstein. I'm glad I did it, cos now I like the undead version better :)

Travelled to Wodonga with Sam, Dan and Kim. My camera fucked up on me @ PWD. I was standing at the front with Joel and Zac while Confession were playing, I asked Joel to give me my camera. I took what I thought would be a mad pic of Crafter, then I found out that my camera was FUCKED. It was taking pictures in pink.. WTF?!!? Was so mad. I think Joel sweated all over it or some shit. So I couldn't take any pix after that :( Was a good show, though PW didn't play long enough.

Heathen Ritual's Farewell.

Heathen Ritual are a Trash Metal from Albury/Wodonga who played their last gig in Wagga and rural areas for a while; the guys are moving to Melbourne :(

Supporting acts were Lost Vikings and Executor who were mini underage Heathens :P
I'm gonna miss Leigh. He is so funny and good to be around, out of all my friends boyfriends, Leigh's my fave.

Was a good show, although not as many people turned up as I thought there would be, and compared to all the people that said they were going on FB, LIARS !

Griffith Road Trip

So, Griffith isn't far enough away to call going there a road trip, but travelling with 1/4 Sobrusion there was fun haha. We all stayed at the Area Hotel in Griffith, cos that's where the gig was at. Spud, Sarah and I shared this pokey little room, with awesome artwork [sarcasm ;)] and Spud stole a trundle from another room for me.

The gig was a beach theme party which I don't think anyone knew haha. Sobrusion played with Leeton band The Fall of Valkyrie, who played like shit and have retarded stage names, and Griffith band Fine Young Thieves, who were alright and kinda reminded me of Kilburn.

We hung out with these cute backbackers from Belgium, I persuaded Carl to drive from Leeton to come to the gig, and it was nice hanging out with Sarah again :)

When it was Sobrusion's turn to play they absolutely killed it. It was mad, everyone in the crowd was loving it which was funny, cos there were like no metalheads there. Their soundcheck shat all over the other band's sets. There was a guest drop from a drunken Elmo, who did vox for one song. Sobrusion got a mad rider with heaps of JD and pizza.

Was a good night, even though Elmo was walking the corridors in only jocks and 1 sock haha, noone would steal shit from the kitchen with me, everyone piked it and went to bed and so Tim and I had to watch Mr T on the infomercials and shitty old countdown :S haha.

After reading this interview, all I can say is WOW. I hope to God that the animals he uses in his art happen to be dead already, "all of which they eat afterwards, to avoid wasteful animal cruelty. " Yeah right. While I actually appreciate his photography, it's insane and original (although some subjects are reminiscent of POTC's Davy Jones), using animals this way is wrong! It's one thing to push boundaries in art, but why kill animals and use them as sexual props for the sake of art? And the models have to put all sorts of things in and around their mouths, its kind of pornogragphic.

This guy is all sorts of crazy, shooting bestiality photography with a dog, and he did various things with erasers and toy cars as a little boy which should of told his parents what was coming...

So it hit me, in the shower of all places, what I actually want to get out of my BA Graphic design AKA 'what I want to be when I grow up'. What kind of work do I want to do in the graphic design industry? I know I don't want to be making pamphlets or stationary headers when I finish my course.

I want to be a freelance artist working the hours I choose, without any pressure from anyone except myself. I want to be commissioned to do band posters, crazy logos, t-shirt graphics and illustrations (like the ones have posted below; I admire that art the most.)To work for myself would be brilliant. But you can't be picky, anyone is lucky to get a job, it is really competitive. Most likely I will start off in a shit photocopying store, but I will try my best to get to where I want. I think I should, separate from Uni work, start a portfolio, do drawings every day. Who knows what my future will hold, all I know is that I need to up my game. End.

This is my first university assignment for this semester. We had to create a magazine cover for 'Me Is I', using a photograph of ourselves, that catered for a unisex youth market.

The only magazine I sometimes read is jmag, therefore I looked to that magazine for ideas. My 'Me Is I' was inspired by the Australian artist Eamo who is sometimes features in it. I found that the cartoon caricatures of musicians that he had done, suited me far more than using just a photograph of myself and putting a filter over the top, boring!

I originally had a different colour scheme of red-orange, pale blue and pale mauve. I believe the red-orange, charcoal and white combination I currently have is far more effective in drawing the viewers attention.

I'm not sure as to whether my cover appeals to both sexes. I think males might be attracted to it because the colours are quite bold, rather then soft pastels, and the image of me is more hip then girly i.e. piercings, sunnies. However, the hearts in the mast head suggest a more feminine market.

Lookbook.nu is my favorite website at the moment. Youth from all over the world submit their fashion foward looks to be judged and loved. You can see all the trends come and go, and it's really interesting to see what everyone else is wearing.

Most of the users are fashion stylists/students, photographers, graphic designers, models and students.

I just adore everyone on this site! They make sure they look great, down to the smallest detail and accessory. These people have a genuine interest in fashion and have unique ideas. You definately will not find anything from retail outlets like Supre, Target, or Jay Jay's on this site.
